Les, they are real bullets and casings. I don't see any advantage in wasting my time with loose components when I can get a quality kit ready to turn.

Les, I get the kits from Bear Tooth Woods they are made up by The Pensmith and I believe he solders them in.

This is a once fired casing with a real bullet nib wrapped in Desert Camo acrylic.

I got this blank in the mail yesterday and just had to turn it today.
Stabilized Spalted Tamarind wrapped around a Roman Harvest. Finished with 6 coats of walnut oil/ca.

They look real good to me.

I haven't been turning for a couple months but am getting back at it now. I have had this blank and kit on my bench for about 6 months and finally turned it today.
An M3 metal Damascus Steel blank...

This is the new Optimus-Desire all stainless steel made in the USA pen kit. I wrapped it in Black & Blush Mokum M3.

I spent a little time in the shop yesterday and wrapped this Xacto knife in Eastern Red Cedar. It was a fun project.

Very nice display Les it shows off the quality of the merchandise well.

They look real good Ian. Sure could use some of that heat up here.

Turn and sand the blank to finish ready. Put a few drops of Trans Tint dye in some alcohol , add enough so that the color looks good, paint the blank with a small brush. Let sit until dry, burnish...

My first try at dying my own blanks. Trans Tint dye on a piece of curly maple and wrapped around a copper Elegant Sierra.

I wrapped this one in Corrugata Burl and finished it with The Doctor's Walnut Oil/Wax/Shelac brew.

Awesome job of planing and executing.

I wrapped this one in some Figured Mesquite and finished it with The Doctors brew.

I have had this curly Koa blank for a couple years and finally decided that it was time to turn it. Sanded to 600 and finished with The Doctors Woodshop walnut oil/shellac/wax mix.

I received an order for 4 chrome Atrax RBs in domestic woods of my choice. I turned out #1 today wrapped in some Pacific Yew that was harvested just down the road from my shop.

Greg; I don't see a problem soaking them in the sink. Back in the old wooden boat days we would launch them in shallow water and let them soak and expand.

I wrapped this one in a Glenfiddich barrel blank from Exotic Blanks. Finished with 8 coats of Walnut Oil/CA and buffed on the Beale wheels.
