I have a HM power hacksaw that does not have a return lift and have not had a problem with excessive blade wear.

I feel that set up would work OK , provided it was built to take a 12 or 14 inch power hack saw blade, as it looks on utube its not much more than a powered hand hacksaw.

I have 115 mm , 125mm and a 9inch, all Hitachi.
Wouldn't go any smaller than a 115mm and stay with the better makes like Metabo Makita Hitachi etc. I always ask for the heavy duty tradesman model.

I'd use a inch round bar with heavy inch pipe.

Looks to be based on the same principle as the COLE DRILL that was made in the US. These are often listed on www.ebay.com

Looks Good. Utilising pipe fittings is an great way to go, should make it easier to keep things square than welding.

A good book to have if you can find one at the right price, but not a beginners book.

Are you trying to weld the hub or the stub axle?
I've seen Holden /Falcon stub axles welded successfully, at a guess I'd say the axles and hubs are
cast steel.

"How To Run A Lathe" puplished by the South Bend Lathe Works is as good or better than most to start with.

If its going on a welding table I'd go for a cheaper fabricated one preferably an off set type, the towbar idea for mounting is a good idea.

Have used 4.5" angle grinders for over 30 years, havn't found finding consumables an
