Hhhmmm, I'm guessing that with 7700+ posts, and as someone who "used to live just north of Sydney Harbour", you're taking the . If so, nice one.
If not, then let's just say that I love the saws... -

Wanted: 9ppi and 11ppi handsaws - 24" to 26"
Hi all,
I would like to buy a good condition, straight, pre-1930's 9ppi handsaw and an 11ppi handsaw in 24" to 26" in length. Disston #12, #16 would be great, but #8 or #7 also fine. Simonds and... -

I have been down the same path of buying planes by their numbers. If you are focussed on using the tools, then I suggest buying them by their function, not their number. I have a fantastic SW era...

I have been through exactly the same process (with Ian W's advice a few years ago), and concur that the amount of mirror-ness on a handsaw makes no difference. Just rust free is enough to shift the...

For what it's wort
I am quite new to canoe building, but have built many Alaias out of paulownia. These are 19mm thick by 6ft long boards that are surfed standing up. No glass, no resin, nothing. They flex beautifully...

I'm definitely in, and any time after the coming month suits me too. As for costs, I would expect this to be well worth your while Ian, as I have no objection to paying for value. I'm not ready for...

I'm In!
Hi Chook,
I have been looking for a 16"-18" tenon saw filed to about 10ppi as well, but no luck yet. So... I'm in. Whatever it is, I'm in. I missed out on the 50+page Workshop in Melbourne last... -

Work on jobs, not jigs
Yep, I agree with the #7 with a hock blade. Way too much fluffing around with the router sled. Absolutely filthy mess after all the fluffing around. And a off wife, screaming baby and bleeding...

Thanks Ern. I just dropped in to see it and wasn't too impressed. Might be alright for hobbyist but I wouldn't expect it to provide a lifetime of sharpening.

That's fantastic! Beautiful simplicity, and puts the focus on getting the edges just right (good preparation) rather than just clamping the bejeezuz out of shoddily prepared boards. I... -
