Hand Planers were not designed for planing floors with...there are special type sanders for doing this job. Smaller planers are designed for ease of use with one hand, and they do a good job in this...

Hi Anewhouse,
I don't staple my strips as such.....I cut a hundred or so small squares of !/8 mdf board and nail these on to hold the strip in place until the glue dries...with just enough air... -

Cutting Strips for Planking.
Hi Cam and Others,
Just another tip here when cutting the strips...you need to have the strips cut as quarter sawn...ie, the wide grain pattern should be on the edge of the strip, not on the face,... -

Hi Gloss Finish
To get a very durable high gloss finish, I use a flooring urethane...it is resilient to scratches, and water does not affect it. Easy to apply with spray or foam roller.

I have used rubber stripped from a conveyor belt...
I have used rubber stripped from a conveyor belt and glue in place with ados contact glue. Never had any bother with it, and seems the wheels dont need to be crowned to work.
