There are two motor types.
The totally enclosed fan cooled motor is fatter and results in reduced depth range.

The saw maker stamped a mark in the middle of a handsaw plate and in the middle of a backsaws back.
The handsaw stamping changed for some makers to an acid etch from 1860s onwards....
