IKEA definitely do a solid timber kitchen top which is quite a light coloured timber. It does however come without being oiled. (They sell the oil, and it is really easy to apply). Good luck!

without having a closer look it is hard to say, however it looks like the acid has "etched" the steel and is highlighting the grain structure of the metal. I dont think you have ANYTHING to worry...
