I would second the Gimp program. Its a brilliant peice of software, and free. I enjoy using it because I used to use Photoshop.

Definately go with a neutral colour when displaying anything. Otherwise it can take away from the craftsmanship you put into the pens. Black, white, light grey would all do.

well that had me drawn in..before clicking i imagined this motorhome made out of tassie oak. Didn't even occur to me that that would be near impossible :p
