    Can't say I have ever had this problem Harry, definately sounds like you are doing it up too tight, also are you locking your spindle when trying to undo it while mounted on the lathe.

    Converting 3 phase to 1 phase

    I have picked up a woodfast dust extractor with a 3 phase motor and am going to convert it, any thoughts on whether to change the motor to a 1 phase unit or just use a VFD, comments please.

    Very nice indeed, if you want to get rid of the voids you will need to put it in a vacuum chamber, which i thoroughly recommend. But i think in this piece the voids match the burl.
