Mine seems to work fine. Parts cost is about $25 so it was worth a try to me.

what spindle speed did u use. @24000 u still have a 4 thou chip probably whats causing the chatter. Maybe slow the feed to about 1500mm/m 24000 rpm and increase the depth. At 1mm depth your still...

I just started a trial of G Wizard and i got 6mm single flute cutter @12000 600mm/min depth of cut 2mm uses 66W of power chip size 2 thou"

It has the 25 pin connector so not using the original bob. It doesn't have any driver chips from the 25 pin just goes straight to the opto's. Hopefully the parralell port...

are u still using the little board that the 25 pin connector from the PC plugs into then has wires going to the driver boards? or has that been removed. If your still using it the input chips on it...

It sounds like interference on the inputs of that driver.
I don't know what a mechatronics driver is. Is it a single axis unit or multi do u have another boad that the pc connects to then wires to...

actually i think our speeds do agree. SDS is making dust. should be aiming for a chip min about 2thou" thick more if the machine is rigid enough.
If u can't slow the spindle down then maybe try one...

A 3 flute will block with chips a lot easier than a 1 flute. I would try slowing the spindle down quite a bit.

I never expected much from MDF. Will have to find a bit of 20mm acrylic and reverse engrave just the dragon, that will look nice.

Roughing about 10 mins i think. 3D about 1 1/2 hours
MDF doesn't machine nice a litle bit fluffy. No idea if a slower speed would help. Time and a few experiments wil tell.

Did a test cut today. Didin't push the model down into the material far enough so i ended up with a bit of veneer left on it. Seems to have come out fine.

U can set it up anyway u like. mine will home to the right and 0 will be on the left. This gets the gantry out of the way to place material. 0 is usually on the left in CAD

I have a very strong steel and mdf bench that the thing will fit on but it is only 600 wide so I am going to mount mine side on and have the x axis as the long side. one advantage is then the artwork...

Does anyone know of any software to convert G Code back to a 3d model, had a look at artcam and aspire and they don't seem able to import it.

The longer the arm from the bearing the greater the movement caused by any play in the bearing. Increasing the distance between bearings by a large amount would reduce this affect.

It arrived today. A big dent on one end of the frame but i don't thin k it will affect accuracy but can't be sure till i put a DTI on it.

the pressure needs to be backed right off. I agree it is so easy to mark that ####, i used to avoid it also.
The fixed hieght is fine if the plate is small but sometimes u just have to use the cone...

The setting device is a bit of plate on a shaft. When u first put the cutter in it is used to set the top rake and hence the relief angle for the cutter. There is a hole on the face around the collet...

Did u run a vacume when you used the nose cone, absolutely essential with the coated brass. No vacume and the swarf gets under it as it's run at super light pressure.
