I can see how a canted saw help you cut to the correct depth. If you keep the spine level you will hit your scribed mark on the front which you can see and are less likely to go too deep at the back...

There has been 2 tough lathe for sale in this forum market place recently have a look at those for comparison.

It’s Waldown. Off the bench grinder with the end tables for grinding tooling.

I’ve been on the look out for one at an affordable price for a few years with out luck. I find it is often cheaper to buy the full sized units at a 1/4 the price or less than the models.
