I attended the local International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) Xmas meeting/get together west of Brisbane today. Had a great time with plenty to eat and seeing various turned items. Some gorgeous ringed Gidgee items, an amazing huge offset turned Bluegum Burl (~600x500mm), but my personal favourite was a Ooline lidded box.

Best of all for me was the usual timber auction at the end. I scored a bowl blank of Bumpy Ash (Pleigynium timorense), pepper grinder blank of Birdseye Huon Pine (Lagarostrobos franklinii), box/handle/pen blank block of European Walnut (Juglans regia) and Guava (Psidium guajava), small log of very Ringed Gidgee (Acacia cambagei) and best of all a decent block of Ooline (Cadellia pentastylis - from a dead tree on ground on private land), and all for $45 BARGAIN !
