Default 2 more bowls (coolabah burl)

Here are 2 more bowls that I have completed recently. They were extremly difficult to turn as I do not have a variable speed lathe. In order to run the lathe at a reasomable speed, I had to attach lead weights to the outside of the work. Furthermore the black part in the second bowl was a lot of loose bark and numerous worm holes that had to stabalized with epoxi resin before i could start turning,
The first bowl is 60mm by 230 mm and the second is 80mm by 280 mm.

Good work!! Keeping that smaller one together must have been a bit tricky.

    Hello All,

Many thanks for all your feedback and positive comments. No, I do not have bowl saver nor have I ever turned a pen nor do I know if I ever will turn a pen. I am a lover of big ugly lumps of wood.

Congratulation Joe Nice work. Whatever you do don't start turning pens they're very addictive
once you start there's no stopping.
    Cheers Tony.

C'mon Joe, tell the truth, you do not know
how to make a pen. Next Wednesday night
I can show you how at the club.

By the way, nice job on the bowls.
