Default Can this be done on the lathe?

I like the idea of a cam-actuated marking gauge. https://www.woodworkforums.com/f44/st...-gauge-115349/ The shaft is the harder part of this process, can it be done by off-centre turning?

    Partly.

Using your headstock indexing stops and a router slide you could get the basic profile in whatever number of indexing positions your lathe has (by adjusting the height of router with each pin position), then hand sand to smooth profile.

Thanks Neil. In the end, I did a lot of hand sanding but I might try the indexing if I made another one.
