Pyrography Info
G'day all. Glad to see a pyro section on the forum. I have been doing pyro for 15 years and have a great archive of images which, if I have a general idea of what someone is looking for, I can make it available. Just entered the ACT Woodcraft Guilds Competition at the Canberra Working with Wood Show and am the pryography special interest groups coordinator. Keep on burnin'!

Congratulations on the excellent quality of your work.
One thing that has often concerned me, is the reported tendency of pyrography to fade in just about any kind of light, especially more painterly works consisting of subtle shading with light tones.
What have you observed in this regard during your fifteen years experience?

Great work. Love the dogs.
Reality is no background music.

Pyrography fading
Have known about fading for a long time. I avoid doing much pyrography for outside use and make sure it is known this can happen when selling pieces. Have discovered, however, a very good product called Botecote which has been tested in QLD for timber colour fading and seems to do very well in protecting against fading. It is, so far, the only product I know of that has enough UV protection for outside use.
