You will probaly find wood keen women a little sparse on the ground so she will probaly have to muck in with the blokes. But If you ask most of the ladies on this bb Thats very rarely a problem.
I she's a studious & systematic girl a Start her on the mike darlow series & get her a little lathe like the jet mini lathe.
Of course she should start reading & posting here.
Cant help you with clobs in your area.
Oh does this mean you are taking up sewing.
cheers
The more women who work wood the more will understand why.Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

The things I don't like. Let me count the ways:
1. You support Collingwood.
2. You support the Pies.
3. You like Nathan Buckley, in a unhealthy way.
4. You support that club from the inner north east corner of Melbourne.
5. Many more variations on this theme.Photo Gallery

Scott, great to hear that your wife is interested in woodturning.
May I suggest you try www.wawa.com.au
They should have an info list for Wood turning clubs that are only too willing to help in newcomers interest in upskilling in their craft.
There are quite a few women already involved ..some professionally probably.

Women working in Wood
Hi Scott,
Try Women working in wood - don't have contact details, they are south of the river so I suggest trying Timbecon for their details.
CarbatecWA (Gatiep from this forum) run courses for turners in Balcatta. Click on Workshops, then on the GO button to the right of Woodturning courses.
Also, I thoroughly recommend the Forrest Heritage Centre in Dwellingup. Great place for a weekend course - you can stay on-site.
Also, the bigger suppliers have contact lists and can probably provide more groups / courses. Also TAFE WA.
Good Luck.

You might also like to check out Liddlelow turners in Kenwick, they meet 3 times a week and are a great atmosphere - and last time I was there, there was at least one lady turner.
PM me if you need a contact number.
Cheers

Al, the problem is the people you choose to love. Like that Zed bloke. Come to think of it, is Zed a bloke?
