Double Garden Gates
Hello all. I am making garden gates. I am using Merbau 19mm X 142mm (Decking) with about 70mm spacing. This will make the gates (1800X1200) quite heavy. I looked on YouTube and Mitre10 NZ show a decent looking gate. He says to half-lap the joints and glue and screw them using a TWO-POT outdoor glue as it is a gap filler too. My local Bunnings doesn't stock it though it is in their online range. (Made by CRC) Do you think Aquadhere is good enough or is there something better for this application? Bill

Selleys have a Polyeuathane single pack glue. You apply the glue to one side of the joint and rub a damp rag to the other side then put the joint together. The wetness from the rag makes the Poly foam and makes for a very weather proof joint. The only problem with the poly is that it is a bugger to get off your skin. Rubber gloves can be thrown away afterwards
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod
