    Post Turning large bowl

Hi I need to turn a large bowl of 450mm diameter, Half of a sphere in shape and about 8mm in thickness.
Appearance is not critical, the inside will not show and most of the outside will be covered.
I was thinking of stack lamininating a blank with the inside and outside roughly to size from pine using epoxy, then turning it.
I have not turned anything this large and would like any suggestions especially on safety. The slowest my lathe will go is 500 rpm will this be too fast?
    thanks,
    Jeff

I would be very wary of doing it this way. The perimeter will really be flying with a 500rpm spindle speed, and pine is soft and will give way before the epoxy if you have a dig.

Ok So It Sounds like my gear and probably skills levels are not up to scratch for this one off project. Anyone interested in turning this bowl for me for the appropriate remuneration.
