I got my new lathe last week and I got a chance to break it in this weekend.

Heres a couple of pics, the first one is large Box Elder burl Hollow Form. The second one is the same hollow form and another smaller one that I gave to my mom for her birthday, both Box Elder wood, and the 3rd one is a bowl I started about a month ago and finally got a chance to finish it.

The finish on all of them is a couple coats of thinned BLO, polished with white diamond and buffed with carnauba wax

    Comment/critiques always welcome.

    Thanks,
    Shane

nice but hate to hit those edges spinning on the lathe could be a bit deadly on the knuckles

Thanks TTIT ... Yes I do my own pics, another one of my many hobbies. www.shanewhitlock.com
The new lathe is a Jet 1642. I love my old Walker Turner, seen in the background of the pic, but it just wasn't big enough so I got the Jet with a supernova2 chuck and a couple of Oneway bowl steadys. It works Great

Thanks Willy, I used foil back tape, good strong stuff, and taped over the crack. It took me several hours to hollow it out and I was stressed the whole time that the top was going to come flying off. Luckily it held together.

It has more character than Wild Dingo.

(And probably caused as much trouble on the lathe. )
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
