The Backhoe
Another one of my "toys", the backhoe. Functional parts include the steering and over 25 pivot joints. All wheels are hand made and turn. The seat swivels and the bucket, loader and outriggers all function. There are 210 pieces used to make this one and it took about 150 hours. It is approximately 1:14 scale.

Nice work! I'm impressed with the details of it. Would love to sit down and play with it for an hour or two. Purely to undrstand how it works, of course!
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

Hi Jim
You're more than a woodie, you're an artist. Your work blows me away. I love these creations so much. It's a shame that non-woodies don't get to see these things. They are surely missing one of life's great pleasures.
If this is what retirement is like, all I can say, is 'bring it on!!!"
I feel an overwhelming desire to learn the art of this kind of work. Do you do any teaching? Obviously, you have a strong background in woodwork and turning, and I would guess that your creations are the culmination of many years' working in the trade?
Cheers

Mucho Impressive!!
As an aside, this afternoon my 6yo daughter was singing
3, 6, 9
the goose drank wine
the monkey chewed the backhoe...
I was wondering how a monkey could chew a backhoe, but now I see a possible way
Cheers,
Andrew
