    Default Name for a Fastener

Can any one help me put a name to a nut and bolt as described below.

The nut comes in the form of a Grub Screw which comes with a hexagon drive which can be screwed in to the inside of a Table leg that has the inside corner Shamphered, the bolt can come in different lengths to screw a brace accross the end & side rail of the Table.

I hope any one can under stand what I just said.

When I lived in Ireland there was a nut called Humphrey. Does that help?

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

One tip when you screw them in the hex head splits easily or the allen key slips and you can't get a good fit and get them flush . I find the best method is to put a bolt in them with a nut on the bolt , tighten the nut against the threaded insert and then screw them in using a spanner on the bolt head , when they are down flush loosen the nut and unscrew the bolt

    Ashore: Good tip well done.

Also be aware threaded inserts come in many varieties. Some have flanges, some have burrs to engage MDF, others threads to screw in to solid wood. They come in metric, SAE and Whitworth threads, different materials etc. You can get pressed steel ones also with a flange and spurrs to press into your job.

McJings have some at reasonable prices as do many other suppliers like timbecon.
