Which timber and glue to use for a bath caddy?
Hello everyone,
I want to build a bath caddy (one of those timber trays that sits over your bath, allowing you to rest a book or cup of tea on it). It would be exposed to a lot of steam and moisture since it sits only 200mm over the hot bath water. Could someone please recommend which timber or timber treatment I should use, and also which timber glue is recommended for this? I don't want my bath caddy to warp from the steam.
Thanks!

I used Radiata for mine. With a Tung oil finish there has been no problem. Aquadhere waterproof glue does the job too.

Photo of the finished product

Thanks for the ideas. Here is a photo of my finished bath caddy. It was my first project using a mitre saw. I used dressed pine and stained it in a dark brown stain. I finished it using a spray lacquer. I couldn't find any plans for bath caddies on the internet so I made up this design using six 10mm thick slats on four 250x250mm pieces to support/hold them together. Feels pretty sturdy.
