Had to think about that one for a minute.
The top spring is made from 3mm steel plate that I cut down into shape.
It has a piece of curtain rod wielded to the front of it to form the carrier.
The other four leaves are 3mm MDF, as is the clamp on the third leaf.
All five leaves are glued together.
I thought having so many pages would be a little novel
Thanks Eddie glad your still enjoying the build.
The light sure is getting brighter I just hope it's not the Indian Pacific.
Cheers Guy's and thanks.

Man that thing looks SWEET!!!
Despite the Indian jokes......He who blesses his neighbor in a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted as cursing!

Thanks Johnnie glad your enjoying it mate.
It hasn't been the day for painting here windy with some raised dust.
So I made the gearshift lever instead.
It's a bit of a funny looking thing but that's how it was "so monkey do".
The lever arm is some metal from an old hose reel.
While the shift knob is bodyfiller moulded in a 15ml measuring cup.
The original ones had an Indian Head logo on top of them.
That's a bit tricky but I think I've found something that may to the job.
It could take a few days to get my hands on it though.
Cheers

A serious question now
What does the bottom end of the gear lever connect to in your photo? (It looks like the frame.)

I was originally thinking of something on the smaller side.
You know a bit of an action/adventure with some romance and good comedy relief.
But now Artamène may end up looking like a light read
A serious question!
Who are you and what have you done with Craig?
The gear lever (if real) passes through the frame under the tank, coming out the other side
to a connecting rod that runs back to the gearbox.
I've answered your question now let him go
Cheers mate

It was a much better day for painting today.
I've put that coat of clear on the mudguard.
I also made the bracket that holds the Magneto cable.
I don't blame you if you can't see it.
It's the piece in primer between the second and third cylinders.
When connected the cable operates the small lever on the right of the bracket (behind the sparkplug leads).
It in turn works a lower arm attached to the Magneto.
There's lots of fiddley little bits to make at the moment and quite a few connecting rods as well.
But it's great fun and all adds detail to the bike.
Cheers

Thanks Peter
I was looking at my engine compared to an original.
The one in the top right is a little later than the 29 but the overall layout is pretty much the same.
I think I maybe guilty of being a little to pedantic about the finish.
But I can live with that.
When I was making the cable bracket yesterday I was thinking that it's all getting a bit tight for space around that area.
But then I noticed in the picture of the real engine the connecting rod of the gearshift is passing through the sparkplug leads.
I'm hoping I can get around them and not have to do that (pedantic).
Still I've had nothing but fun with this bike from the day I started it
I'm really happy to think that you have to mate!
Cheers
Trev.

Looking great Trev. Pretty well identical in my book!
I was surprised to see the bare generator belt driven off the Splitdorf magneto driveshaft. I have several photos of '29 Fours with and without a generator belt cover, where fitted they are either black or chromed. I guess the cover was an optional extra.
By the by, are you aware that Indian would not issue publicity photos of the '4' showing the non-exhaust side of the engine? This was considered to be the 'ugly' side of the bike. I reckon they were wrong, it looks gorgeous!
Cheers, Peter.
