That Indian is coming up just beautifully.
Glad the Keystone is holding it's own. If I had know it was as good as that I would have had a reserve on it at the auction and billed it as a "universal" model. I hope you treated yourself to a beer afterwards and as you know that is where the Keystone bottle opener comes into it's own.
For those of you who don't know the history (provenance?) of this saw I have taken the liberty (and it is a liberty to even hint at a digression of Trev's amazing thread on this build) of posting some pix of the original saw before restoration .

I think the 'V' has a more classic look?
Just a suggestion Trev, I am sure that many of us who live in awe of your work would be happy to keep our eyes open for bits and pieces. When stumped, if you could let us know what you are looking for, a circle on a photo of the full size bike?

What I kool idea that is.
I'd really enjoy building the Brough with the addition of bits and pieces from forum members.
It would add so much to the story of the build and the object itself!
Very kool fletty luv it.
By the way I think you know your bikes.
Good call 'V' is the classic Brough Superior

Thanks Johnnie I'm pretty happy with the front end as well.
But I don't think there's a hole lot that can be done with me mate.
It doesn't seem to matter where you put me on a baseball field, I always seem to wonder to the left
The front (I was about to write mudguard but I'm learning mate) "fender" is ready to be pinstriped.
So it should be back on the bike in a couple of days.
Yesterday I got the modifications to the sump done.
It's looking pretty good.
I cut the facing plate off the gearbox section and removed about 20mm from the housing.
Then reattached it and repaired the surrounding area.
As always a spray of primer and the nasty goes away!
With a sand and a new top coat it should be right to go.
Today will be a little more tricky.
I need to make the same modifications to the top of the gearbox being sure that very things aligned with the sump.
I'm a bit more confident about cutting up the top now that the sump is done.
But it's still a bit of a worry

Well that was the most nerve wracking eight hours work.
But I think I've gotten away with it.
As I did with the sump I cut the facing plate off the gearbox and removed about 20mm from the housing.
I made the cut along the back of the flywheel with a hacksaw blade held by hand.
The red arrow on the bodyfiller mark shows how far the gearbox has been reduced.
You can also see that the centre bolt tab needed to be shifted across to match the sump.
Once I had the two halves matched up and sanded down I gave it a coat of primer.
That's by far the biggest hack job I've ever had to do on any of my work.
There's still a fair bit of work to do cleaning up the modified area's and respraying them.
But the worst part is over.
I just hope that damn chain lines up after all this!
Right now a cup of coffee is the go, then I'll pinstripe the mudguard.
WOW it's just gone 2 o'clock feels the it should be midnight!

Yesterday was a big one getting the gearbox cut down.
It was hanging over me like a black cloud for a long time it's good to have done and out of the way.
I'll repair a few bits of damage that the engine has picked up along the way being taken in and out of the frame.
Then give the areas that need to be touched up a respray.
With a little luck the engine should be back in the frame to stay by the end of the weekend.
I managed to pinstripe the front mudguard yesterday as well.
It still needs to be clear coated and resprayed underneath but it's looking pretty good.
I'm really looking forward to the seeing the engine back in the painted frame.

I had the thought this morning that I'd best actually make sure that I had removed enough material from the gearbox
for the chain to be aligned.
So I put the top of the engine in the frame to check.
I'm happy to say there's more than enough room for the chain and it's guard.
I've just repainted the sump and I'll mask off the top of the engine shortly.
With a little luck I could have most of the engine back in the frame this afternoon.

Now we're getting somewhere!
I've repainted the engine and got it back in the frame.
Hopefully that's where it will stay and there's no need to take it out again.
I'm really happy with the way the bike's looking so far.
I'll take the front mudguard out now and give it a light sanding and it's first coat of clear.
