Quadbikes and Motorbikes for some little boys.... The unbreakable type!!
Quadbikes and Motorbikes for some little boys....... The unbreakable type!!
Our middle daughter's good friend who was one of her bridesmaids, has two boys, who we got to meet at our home a couple of weeks ago....
They were well and truly taken with all the wooden trucks & machinery I have built, which our grandsons enjoy playing with....
One of the boys made a comment to his mum that these toys are way cooler than what "so & so" has and apparently that was a huge complement....
Anyway, I've had a request to make some trucks.....
I have a few things on the go a present that doesn't include woodwork, so I thought a couple of Quadbikes and Motorbikes would be a good start....
The Quadbikes were done over a couple of long afternoons....
BUT the Motorbikes have been a whole different deal.....
You see in my rush I mucked up big time [another couple of long afternoons]; I used the centre template for the sides and the side template for the centre along with the appropriate timber sizes...
HUMBUG, what to do, I don't want to waste all that time and effort!!!!!
So I made two modified motorbikes with big fat wheels....they look okay and the boys won't even know I made a big mistake when they enjoy the fun & play....
Still want to make some motorbikes...
Cheers, crowie
PS - Just some phoney photos to show the toys....as they still need final sanding and finishing.....

Told you Crowie, if it doesn't come together as expected, add fat wheels and call it a "rod"!

So Handy mucked up for once. Just cut his pay in half this month. Haven't you heard of the Flintstones.
Another fine effort.

Thanks for the headsup Crowie, that was a brilliant mistake, looks really cool. Must admit I looked at one of the photos first, and thought it was one of your really good design modifications.

Back on track on the correct bike.....
Back on track on the correct bike.....
Only another afternoons work.....Sizing the sides, marking out, rough cutting on the bandsaw, shaping on the bobbin sander and routing the edges....
This is what we should have cut out in the first place....
And no I can't blame Handy, my muck-up...
Cheers crowie

It might have been your mistake, but it looks like Handy is the one close to the saw blade and I'm not sure if that is red paint or Handy's red blood on the plate covering the blade.
Lots of happy kids (and guardians). Well done.
