Hey Stu, that's a real neat looking fret saw, the track idea is brilliant.
Is that an old bench grinder motor?<style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line- 120%; }</style> Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. Abert_Einstein.

Hey Wal, This is from an ozito or ryobi cheap bench saw I got from Bunnings for $112.
They are still available. I bought this specifically because it has a 5/8" arbor which suits the blades from Stewmac nicely.
Here's a shot looking across the top sliding bench. Notice the blade sitting to height above the bench.
Reconstituted stone with the Gibbo Firebird motif. Usually seen on firebird pickguards
but Grant asked for one as an inlay at the 12th fret. I'm up for a challenge........

Those fb's are freaking awesome!!!
I love the fret saw too.. Id love to make myself one of those. I slotted my first board the other day by hand wit the stewmac box and saw..It was ok but im sure your saw would be much much much better!!

Hi Stu,
Well I can see the XMAS holidays becoming a twice a day log in to watch your progress. Bring it on..., I know its a can of worms but what tonal qualities are you shooting for?"We must never become callous. When we experience the conflicts ever more deeply we are living in truth. Yep floody, the fret slotting saw is easy to make and very quick to cut a board.
Sebby, I gotta tell you mate, this guitar is finished and hopefully Getting picked up
by 'G' this weekend. He's taking a roadtrip from Newcastle which shows his keenness
to finally get her in his hands. This thread will cover all bases but will be done in a few days. Short, sweet and relatively to the point.
Just completed taking the finished pics tonight and I'm pretty happy.
O.K.
And now G's choice of Tiger myrtle. Closest on the left is it.

I'll start a dedicated thread with closeups inside and out of the fret sled for you guys to
make your own. No good for fanning frets though.
Now to the 14 degree headstock angle............
This headstock will have firstly two separate headplates, one dyed black maple and the other high figure blackwood from the same billet as the high figure centre neck lamination.
Glueing them down....
And after glue and clamping....
Now for the truss rod cavity.

This'll be on anzlf soon too , Seb.
Headstock cut to shape and ready for the next stage
Now for the defining touch for the firebird headstock, Ebony top plate.
Tiger myrtle billet just got run through the big re-saw bandsaw and the drumsander, enough for around 17mm thickness. Not joined as yet.
Bookmatched, glued and clamped.......
