Arbortech Mini Grinder
Santa was very generous this year, an Arbortech Mini Grinder was in my stocking. No idea what I have done right, but VERY chuffed to get it.
Just itching to try it out, my Makita 4 inch grinder is calling from the shed butI understand I will need a special plate to fix it as the collar is the wrong size.
Can anyone recommend a grinder I fix it directly to (ie no special plate needed) , preferably something cheaper (thinking Ryobi rather than Festool)?
Thanks
Chris

You might be best off getting the plate. The Makita is good to use with it. Otherwise the even better bet is to call arbortech and see what deal the y can do on a grinder. They sent me one fairly reasonably priced after having issues with a couple of grinders

Arbortech Mini Grinder
Hi Chris,
Aly from Arbortech here. Lucky you to get the Mini Grinder Attachment for Christmas!! Because it is becoming increasingly difficult to fit the large number of grinders coming on the market these days, we always encourage people to get the complete power tool so that they can just take it out of the box and start using it without any drams trying to fit the Attachment to their grinder. Since you already have it though, we can certainly try and help you. If you go here Fitting the Mini-Grinder you can get the information which will help identify whether the Attachment will fit your current 4" Makita.
If you think it will, I can send you the plate free of charge so that you can get it fitted and start using it straight away! The only think I ask is to see the pics of the beautiful work you are going to create lol!
You can email me on [email protected] with your address if you would like me to send the plate. Otherwise, contact our technical guru, Craig Belcher, who may be able to talk you through the fitting process on the phone if that helps!
Enjoy your new tool!
Cheers
Alyson

Our Wood Club has one, it was bought at the request of a member who I do not think even used it.
I discovered it in a drawer and it was the tool I was looking for when I was making the Nutcracker Soldier. I needed something that could carve away quickly the waist area of his torso and build some style into his chest.
I was really impressed, apparently the person who wanted it originally was too as he asked me to give him some lessons on how to use it. I got my lessons from the Arbotech video showing it in use. I was really impressed.
It is easy to use but just be careful when first using it. Once you get used to the torque and what it can do I think you will be pleased also. It is a great tool.
