Carving bird tables - 2 questions
I was planning on buying a square of wood
(which do you suggest is best out of oak, cherry or maple?)
and then carve a circular dimple in the middle so it can hold water, but i'm unsure what chisels i need?
Thanks

I don't know much about the timbers you mention, but would be concerned about any toxins that they might introduce to the water and from there to the birds......Perhaps you could design your table to include a ceramic or glass container for the water. Maybe if you were to sketch your idea on paper, then scan it and add it to another Post as an attachment, then people here could probably give some suggestions as to the best way to do the job and which timber would serve best.
Regards
John
