Adelaide luthier suffers devastating workshop fire
Of interest to fellow luthiers on this board. Well known Adelaide luthier Jim Redgate suffered a disastrous fire at his premises last week. Plans are afoot for a benefit show to help get Jim back on his feet....keep an eye on Adelaide paper for details.

My heart goes out to anyone who has a fire as I can really relate.
Total destruction, or badly burnt? Was he insured?
Wish him the best.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I heard about this from Shedscientist yesterday. Apparently insurance was problematic owing to the specialist nature of his business: i.e. jigs, tools, timber etc, that had been acquired/made over many years. Basically I gather he's lost everything. A complete tragedy. I don't read the papers: can someone keep us posted about benefits, etc?
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Wendy to help out you can send a couple of cubes of hardwood to my place along with a 15" thicknesser jointer, a moulding machine, table saw and one of those wood rat machines too so we can do the joinery!!!!!
What we in Adelaide could maybe to is front up for half a day this weekend and give him a hand with the clean up. Pretty sure that would make a world of difference.
