Need advice and help.
Hey guys
Well the HSC is coming next year so I have started planning on what to make. I really want to make a pool table but maybe make it abit customised to show off alot of woodworking skills to achieve a really high band 6. I was just wondering if anyone on here has made a pool table before? or anyone have any idea about the process to make a pool table or the price to make one?
Thankyou
Ben

Ben - remember that Google is your friend!
Do a search on te net and also do a search hear on the fora by using the search facility.
Sounds like you could turn the legs, do some mortice nd tenon joints, some dovetail joints and inlay the timber border. (just for starters!! )

Assuming this won't have a couple big inch thick slabs of high grade slate in it I'd steer clear of a wood table and go with something that will perform like slate.
Concrete might be the best for that.

That is the hardest part - normal tables have a very heavy, very very flat surface under the felt so without that (and they can be verrrrry expensive) it might not be worth the trouble.
Have you considered other projects at all? It's always best to do something you are certain you can complete and do it well than overaim and end up not finishing....trust me please, after a exhibition for a uni project that barely worked and the 3 months before hand when we realised we'd overcomplicated it were far too stressful to think of another person going through it!
