    Default Ash/Tassie Oak dust cleanup

    I am halfway through a 1600 x 1600 dining room table in Vic Ash/Tassie Oak. Joined and laminated the top, making the frames, etc. This is the first time I have done a big project in this hardwood. ll is going well except for the dust. It seems to turn my white pasty skin black. I guess it is the resin/gum from the timber dust that has worked it's way into my pores. Scrubbing with every soap, rinsing in turps, eucalyptus oil, etc can not seem to get this stuff off my hands. Anyone have any ideas what might dissolve the dust resin?

    The tannin from the the timber reacts with the moisture from your skin which then stains you black, it will eventually wash off after a few days

    Cut a lemon in half and rub on stained hands. We had this problem alot when building hardwood framed houses years ago.

    Have you tried vinegar?
    Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.

    Thanks, the mild acids (vineger, lemon juice) work. As does spending 5 hours on water slides in a highly chlorinated pool with the kids.
