branding iron
Hello all,
I'm a graphic designer creating a design that will ultimately be a branding iron for a furniture designer.
I don't have any experience with branding irons so are there any minimum requirements for my design? The iron will be 2 inches in diameter so do I have to make the lettering a minimum height? What other things do I have to keep in mind?
Apologies if this is not the corect forum for this inquiry.
thanks in advance.

This might not be exactly what you are after, sounds like you want a more custom made design.
But I ordered one of these non-electric branding irons from Lee Valley, works quite well.

BrandNew Industries publish some design guidlines. I do not know if these are relevant to other manufecturers.

Attached is a pic of the torch, a sample on some mdf and some red gum. Didnt hold it long enough on the redgum but you get the idea. Best to take time when doing this, dont want to ruin a project by botchin the brand :eek:Brett

Thanks Brett .... they look great, and the same design that I was thinking about getting. It looks like a birthday goer.

Oges, have you got one of those hot air paintstripper guns?
Try that on it & see if it gets it hot enough.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.
