Bunnings 15% yeah right !
G'day
I'm in the market for a triton router, after shopping around i found it cheaper at 2 places. I was down at bunnings wanting to get "we will beat it by 15%" claim.
I showed the sales guy the print outs from the web showing the prices.
one was a shop that does sales through the net the other a well known supplier.
He rang the first place and check the price, then the sales guy told me that web shops didn't qualify for the offer !! I told him that isn't mentionned anywhere to which he replied they just haven't updated the ads.
I then showed him the 2nd place where it was cheaper, he said they were closed on Sundays and I would need to come back monday when he would call them, and he would match their price not beat it.
He pointed out the in store banner that said they can: beat it by 15% or match it. That's not noted anywhere on the TV ads or leaflets I get in the mail.
What a scam.
I want to conact the head office about this bait advertising, but looking on their webiste I can't find a single contact email or telephone number.
Does anyone have the contact info for the customer service dpt ?
Cheers
Nic

Nic.
When I bought my Triton router from Bunnings I took a printout of Just Tools webpage showing their price and I got the price match and 10 % reduction as well. This was when it was still 10 %. The store was Nunawading and the tool guy did not even ring up to verify it.
There have been posts from others in NSW who had a problem and Bunnings admitted that they were wrong and fixed it. Do a search for details.
Contact the manager of the store and get it sorted out and insist on your rights. It is probably a casual who refused it and management would be surprised to hear this.
Let us know how you get on.
Peter.

The guarantee offered in Qld is quite clear, although only 10% here!
I don't blame anyone for checking the bone fides of a web advert..any of us could (and believe me many do) knock one up in a few minutes.
It's amazing the number of bogus coupons we field in our sandwich shop, even customer loyalty cards get scanned and scammed!
No excuse for refusing the offer though.
Cheers,
P

Stand out the front of the Bunnings entrance with a cardboard sign that states Bunings does not keep their promise and see how quickly they offer it
How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?

ask to speak to management. their ad states they will beat the price by 15% nothing more said. you had proof in print, they should match it. if not ask them if they have heard of the ACCC and that a nice email is on its way in regards to their false advertising. Or you could do what Dean said and make a scene, then watch the staff run around like choocks with no heads on trying to resolve the situation
i have been down that road lately with a price match product. i had a young assistant that was not interested in my custom, so i ended up going to another bunnings store and they were more than helpfull.
i too, would love to know why down in victoria its 15% and up here in queensland its only 10%

It's probably 15% in Vic because they never give it !
I wrote the short version of what happened, that guy gave me every excuse in the book to justify not beating the price, including because "it's a webstore so you will have to add freight which will make it more expensive than us "
I'll try and go back sometime this week, and kick a stink if i don't get satisfaction
Cheers

Nic,
Midge and the guy is right about web page print outs. Forget trying to use that as proof of a cheaper price.
Go in monday when they can call the second place. It is their right to verify prices in print. If they tell the guy a cheaper price and he will only match, ask politely to speak to a manager. When the manager comes, explain your position. If the manager refuses the 15% then politely inform him that you will be speaking to the ACCC regarding their false advertising. THEN... if you still have no luck, go and notify the ACCC. And just buy the router from the cheaper place.
IMO there is no point in creating a scene as if it were me serving, you definately wouldn't get anything out of me if you made an ar5e of yourself.
DanIs there anything easier done than said?- Stacky. The bottom pub, Cobram.

How about supporting the company that is offering it cheaper than Bunnies .... I dislike the way that Bunnies hide behind this 15% off thing .... it takes balls for a company to reduce its profit margin to get a sale and then Bunnies run along and discount lower to get that business from the few people who shop around. Soon enough Bunnies will will squash all of these smaller companies and we will end up paying full retail all of the time.
Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Hei Nic,
This is the URL for the contact page for Bunnings
http://www.bunnings.com.au/site/cust...709&formID=135
Their website states
"If you happen to find a cheaper price on a stocked item, We'll beat it by 10%*.
*Excludes trade quotations, stock liquidations and commercial quantities.Shelf prices may be lower than advertised to ensure lowest prices everyday."
But it also states "Regional variations may occur" so I guess they use that get out of it when they want to.
Cheers

Im with Sir Stinkalot on this. These short term "marketing plans" are probably "factored in" as part of their "long term strategy". Yeuuuch!
Build a relationship with a local supplier. They may not be able to beat Bunnings on price but they will generally thrash them on service."the less moving parts there are, the less chance of something going wrong-unless of course you wobble something important at the back"

Bunnings
Bunnings are offering 15% in Victoria because of the new Mitre 10 Mega stores.
Insist on the discount - there is nothing on the signs in their stores with these conditions -at least not in the store that I last shopped in.

Hi all,
I have a small tail that is the completely diffrent, I received a very, very, very good quote ( $900 ) for a ten inch Makita sliding mitre compound saw from another company, who are both owned by the same company.
This was honoured, so it would seem to me that it all depends on the person that you get in the store. I would say to anyone stand up for your rights and go to the next level up. MATCH THE PRICE AND THEN BEAT IT BY 15%Scott.

What 15%?
Nic
I was in the market for a new router. After checking the Forum I decided on the Triton. The Forum also mentioned the good price at Bunnings and thier 15% guarantee.
Bunnings is really too close to my place so I dropped in that afternoon with my Just Tools printout, found they had a Triton in stock and headed to the checkout.
"The 15% doesn't apply because you have to add the freight" was the reply.
I asked for clarification but wasn't in the mood to get too excited.
Disappointed, I was still happy with their price.
It works a charm in its custom made table. I really like the soft start.
I wanted the router more than the argument.
