I get mine mostly from the side of the road and other woodworkers. A bit from the Woodworking club I go to.

    Default Salavaged Wood.

    Hi TL,
I rarely buy wood, as there is so much lying on the ground, it's not funny.
I have bought from WWWood Show, but very little.
I am also offered wood from people who know of me as a Woodturner. I almost always do a " Bit for a Bit", make them something to remind them of their Tree or Timber I get.
    Regards,
    issatree.

I generally purchase from a lumberyard that also carries specialty timbers such as Huon Pine and Celery Pine etc. The staff are helpful and friendly and make constructive suggestions when I am going for something that may not suit my needs

Some from the recyclers, a little from timber yards and up to about 5 tons from Mal Ward.

All of my turning timber has been rescued from the chipper or the tip.

Just recently I have found a new source of RedGum Billets, the local shed bloke, he has RedGum come as "packing" in the shed packs. They are quite happy for me to take as much as I want.

I have also managed to accumulate a supply from Farms, Gardens, and work.

IF I am doing cabinetry, I will get some from the hardware store or take a trip to a couple of timber suppliers in Melbourne.
I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

I'm probably not representative of most members as I'm primarily interested in furniture timbers employed in (I say employed in and not native to) British furniture of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Surprisingly, some of the finest 'British' timbers I've come across have actually been harvested in Australia (I used to have my own timber yard full of Ash, Cherry, Elm, English Oak and Walnut amongst others - all sourced within Victoria).

Currently, I buy from timber yards (both Australian and overseas). I bought three slabs from a forum member, one small board at the recent Melbourne show and I've wangled a few small samples and other bits and pieces from forum members.

    Default eBay

I guess this falls into a few of the catagories. I like using timber from eBay, I like getting old VJ timber from old houses. It cleans up well, is seasoned and looks a treat.
