Carbatec Melbourne
Was at Carbatec Melbourne this morning and was left wondering where most of the stock was. Many gaps on the shelves, some stock missing and just a general 'emptiness' about the whole place. Is this the way it generally is or am I missing something?

In that case, they've lost the plot....
Sydney have been busy completely rearranging the entire store - time will tell if the stock levels improve. They ran it down to almost nothing before the buyout.
Maybe Carbatec Central is doing it a bit tough at the moment?

They have just had some big sales on and maybe they were cleaned out. I would have gone but since moving from Richmond they are too far away. They need a second store out west. Hoppers Crossing would be just right. I used to be a regular but now it is a once a year trip if I am lucky. I know others that feel the same way.

They've been downsizing their stock range since they brought out the quarterly catalogue included in their focus magazine.
Many a time I look for something they used to stock on their website and it doesn't click through and is no longer stocked.
May be this is to overcome the complaints if something is not in stock but we are the poorer as a result of the CT and stock level bashings.
Peter.

Their computer probably thinks they are fully stocked. The Carbatec computer is a bit like that......

Yeah, know the feeling Col. It's a two and a half round trip for me, Springvale is not central enough. Mind you, if it went to Hoppers It'd almost be a 3 hour round trip. something central maybe. I only go if I've got multiple pick ups around the area. After today I'm going to be less reluctant to go.

I reckon somewhere around Tullamarine or Keilor would be just dandy, why is everything in Melbourne out Springvale-Dandenong way
From where the Calder and Western Ring Road meet it is almost as far to Springvale as it was to get to the Ring Road from Bendigo.
Citylink is not much help either since they built the bottle neck the other side of the Bolte Bridge, quite apart from th fact I detest paying tolls.

they really need a second store out west hoppers would be fine it's a bugger of a drive from geelong. If they had one i would be there every couple of months instead of maybe once a year, if then.
Actually a store in geelong would be best then they can cater to the whole western district and i don't have far to drive

Even living near Caulfield race course to travel to Springvale is out of my way. I have been there twice in the last few months - once when I needed to travel to a premises a block from Carbatec, and then a week later for some parts that they had in stock.
While there I was surprised by the empty spaces, and the one or two things I may have bought on impulse were OS.
Mail order has some pluses - saves time but still does not get you the goods if they are out of stock or deleted. Shopping in store is good for the store as customers are likely to buy an item they did not come in for (impulse) but only if the item is on the shelf or floor.

I agree. Geelong would be great. I don't know what possessed them to go to Springvale when Richmond was central. Thank goodness for ebay and Gumtree now. The postage from the US and UK is just slightly more than it costs me in fuel for a round trip to Springvale in my Toyota Landcruiser.
