Anyone been to Carbatec in Sydney recently
I need a half a dozen items from Carbatec and dont want to waste the drive.
When I was in there a few weeks ago the stock levels were very low and I didnt get what I wanted and also spent money on things I hadnt intended to buy.
Has the stock situation improved or should I just buy online and not waste my time and petrol

How about calling first to see if they have the items in stock before driving there? Calling beforehand has saved me many wasted trips in the past.

Clint
I would not recommend buying on line. I had a very bad experience a few weeks ago where they sent the goods to the incorrect address & after multiple Tel calls to Brisbane HO it took me around six weeks to get a refund. They have a policy of no refund until they get the goods back, even when it is their fault !!
If you must buy from CT I suggest calling first to check on stock, but from what others have told me this does not guarantee they will have it.
I much prefer to keep my business in Australia but sadly this is not always possible, so I deal with the likes of LV more & more, where I know I will get good service even though it costs a few dollars more.
Regards

I have called in the past but found as Basil that this doesnt guarantee actually having the pieces.
I actually want about 15 items, some of them small - it feels so 20th century to have to phone and hope for the best

Hhmmm
The best bet is probably to write a letter, by the time you get a response you will have realised you don't really need those things & save money.

I was in melbourne yesterday and they didn't seem to have much in the way of stock either, except expensive acrylic pen blanks. Maybe they took it all off the shelf because of the clearance sale that is from 3-7 Jan?? Maybe they had HUGE phone orders and sold it all.

Since they have a virtual monopoly on the walk-in woody market in the major cities it seems a strange way to run a business.

Clint, I phone ahead and ask the shop assistants to actually physically get the items required and place them behind the counter. That way I know what they have and if it's worth while traveling to the shop.
I hope Carbatec improve their stock levels and reconcilliation between their computer system and actual physical stock levels.Pat

I was there before XMAS and the stock levels were much higher than they have been. They had the dribs and drabs I was after. Ringing first makes sense if you have to travel. We work a few blocks away so no big deal.

I can not believe how hopeless the stocking level is in Sydney. I have been there four times in the last few months, and the stock levels range from, "at least I got some of the stuff I wanted to why do they bother to open the doors.
The staff is fantastic. Their systems are beyond hopeless.
The last time I was there, three items I wanted were out of stock in store, but available from the warehouse. Placed an order in store for the items. Emailed later and added one item. When the order arrived, the only item that was there was the added item. The three that were "in stock" were out of stock.
Basil Faulty could take lessons from these guys.

I am going to order online for an in-store pickup when it is ALL ready for collection and see if that works
