Yes I have made and used a flat board type straight edge .... yeh worked pretty well.
BUT
A long time ago I baught a 6 meter length of 50 x 25mm aluminium box section ..... this I cut down into a 2.5m and 1.5m and a 2m lengths ....... these have been endlessly usefull.
On the saw bench if you are not confident of getting a straight edge off the standard fence, you can lay the 2.5 meter length against the fence and hello Uncle Bob.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
