I'm about to make a jarah cupboard, but I want to uses a peace of tin or stainless steel with small square holes in it (like a mesh). Does anyone know were I could get something like this in Melbourne?
Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,
I think the term you're looking for is "perforated sheet". I don't reckon you'll have much luck finding perforated tin, your best chance will probably be stainless or aluminium. I'd go for stainless myself, to avoid the problem of corrosion with aluminium.
Try ringing a few sheetmetal suppliers in the Yellow Pages, they might have some offcuts that you could pick up. There was a place in Williamstown that used to specialise in offcuts, but the name escapes me now.
Cheers,
Justin.

hi Nick - WELCOME to the forum! Justin is spot on - it is decorative perforated metal sheet. Most sheet metal fabricators have it as do quite a few renovation places. Could you tell us: WHat overall "look" are you trying to achieve? Is it a period-style piece or funky? Do you have a drawing or pic of one youre wanting yours to look similar to?
have fun!

Thanks for the info. I have drawings but there are in a drawing program called vectorworks and I haven't been able to convert them to PDF, yet! computers!
I guess the cupboard would fall into the funkyer style. I thought by using nice wood and tin, aluminum or stainless steel, make it have different textures.
Cheers

There is a mob called Richardson Pacific at 330 Ballarat Rd Braybrook Vic
9313 2222
I tryed their website but apparently my brouwser isnt supported, I am useing some obscure thing called IE6 by Microsoft.
Try www.richpac.com.au
I have bought off them before, take cash, as this is all they deal in with small customers.

Try this place in Braeside
http://www.metalmesh.com.au/
They also sell offcuts if you don't require a full sheet.

ok - can't you just hit the save-as button in vectorworks? maybe even save as a jpg?
if you want to be totally inspired for newer funkier looking stuff (not that yours will be anything less than wonderful) , Nicholas Dattner has a range of redgum cabinets with black perf'd metal inserts and thermal-carved elements by an aboriginal artists that look fantastic IMHO - ND is situated in Collingwood.
My browser wouldnt work with that 1st site either so it isnt us....
Metalmesh is brilliant!
Have funSteve

Here's the drawing. The problem with converting to pdf was the scale was wrong so I kept creating 12 page pdf's! now I've got that sused.
I live in a small flat, so any cupboard space is great. This cupboard will go in the toilet and be flush against both side walls. With quad running down the sides and bottom.
So of the dimensions have come out wrong, but you get the picture.
Thanks Again.

Hi again Nick
A nice little project. What will it be used for? Dunny rolls or medicine?
Do you need handles for your cabinet? If so, Wilson and Bradley are very
good in Bell Street Preston - very cheap as they deal mainly with the trade.
