A dovetailing experience - thanks WoodBorer!
Having had a few "issues" with dovetailing of late, I was delighted to be invited over to WoodBorer's place to undergo some tuition. Now Rob said he had made "a few", but understated it somewhat. What he should have said was that his workshop was in fact a very large dovetail, with everything inside it held together by dovetails! Drawers and carcases dovetailed, stools dovetailed, and even some scrap laying around had been dovetailed together because, well, he could I guess .
We spent a pleasant 6 hours ( where'd the time go?) shooting the breeze, solving the world's problems and trying to sort out my dovetailing woes. In between learning I must admit to trying to walk away with a rather nice marking guage (it did look like mine - honest Rob!) but got caught red handed. I even tried to squeeze some LN planes into my jacket pockets but they sagged so badly it looked like an old ladies b**bs - caught again.
Anyhoo - thanks be to Rob for a great days tuition, and to the lovely Meg for the refreshments. I'll be working a bit more on those dovetails now,
cheers,
Groggy

I've been in there too, but I resisted and escaped without being drawn to the dark side.
Nice planes though.

One of these days WB will get nominated for an OAM for services to the dovetail and the darkside.
He's got nice trees outside his place hasn't he....

I'm pleased to say that I too have passed through WB's "dovetails in an afternoon" tutorial. Great fun, good learning - and the beginning of a slide in darksidedness
Thanks Mate

Like the rest of you, we enjoy having good people drop in for a cuppa and chat and mucking around with wood in that old shed of mine - Groggy was spot on, where did the time go?
The look on poor Groggy's face when he realised he had accidently packed my CC marking gauge in his box was worth much more than the marking gauge and that's saying something.
Thanks for dropping in and the kind words from previous visitors - you are always welcome. The lemon tree only gets used when it gets dark Clinton:eek:
Gumby, you need just a smigeon more tuition but you are almost there.
Craig, your workshop needs some cobwebs, I'll bring some with me next time.- Wood Borer

I was scooping up some things I'd bought along to make room on the bench and chucked his gauge in my box. Talk about embarrassed!
