    G'day MrFixIt,

Just what I have in my shed and a very good recommendation.

    re power
I had to run power to my garage a while back

1 Have a good chat to a sparky and find out the rules ie how deep you need to bury the power leads. I had to go down 600mm and put the wire into conduit I also had to dig under the footing of the house and pass the wire through.( depends on house ) The wires will then wire into to your switch board. A job for a sparky as you may need new fuses and there is a lot of live stuff in there.

2 Try to get a trade price on wire and dig the trench yourself run the wire and fix in place the conduit etc Leave the trench uncovered for the sparky to inspect and sign off.

3 Run cable for security sensors 1 for each door and sensor you intend to use bury this 100mm above the power leads to minimise interference. I highly recomend a monitored alarm that will ring you and send a security company to respond to an alarm activation if required ( rig the house at the same time)

4 Remember that you only get 10 amps off each lead so that means you will need to consider lighting and how many tools you intend to run at once ie lights, saw and dust extractor will be at least 10 amps. I wish I had run more than 1 As I think the 1 I have will prove inadequate in the longer term.

good luck new shed looks great

Sure get a trade/good price from whereever, but OFFER to buy (at the price you get) the cable from the 'lecky.

He'll appreciate the extra few dollars and be more inclined to help you.

At least give him the opportunity to let you buy your own.
    Kind Regards

    Default First Inspection........She's got potential

    Gidday

Well went down signed the lease n did all that stuff thats a hassle when moving house. Highlight of the trip was a good inspection of the new Shed.............I think shes got a lotod potential (See Pics)

My one major concern is the security. Any ideas on securing the roller doors? I'm thinkin bout a suggestion made by Mick a few months back to Chemset some eyebolts into the concrete & use a Heavy chain to secure the RollerDoors .............................. All suggestions Welcome!!!

    G'day NewLou,

On the security side and something I might do down the track, on the roller door put two gate post bolts one at either end. It's simple effective and costs next to nix.

Mmmm, plenty of potential in there.

    Hi New Lou,

It looks like a mighty fine shed, loads of room and even comes with concrete... you cockroaches get all the luxuries down there!
I'm surprised there isn't power already, but the place we bought recently had the same. Built 20yrs ago, stones throw from the house, but no power!? Previous owner must have had bloody good eyesight, as there wasn't even a window! As stated by a few chaps here, a submaster board is the go, and I got a 15amp double outlet (as well as 3 double 10 amps) just for the welder.

As for security, it looks like your roller doors are right on a laneway or such, so better safe than sorry. How secure is the post between the 2 doors? You may be able to rig up a chain through a staple low down on that post, and run a chain to both doors, using a single padlock. The reason I ask about security of that post is I've seen a setup where that item is removable when both doors are up...spring loaded bolt and out it comes for an extra big doorway! Maybe handy, but didn't seem real secure because of it.

    Good luck,
    Andy Mac

    Hi Lou

Well this is the probably the 6th time I have tried to answer your thread. So here goes.

Great shed looks really good appears to plenty of room Lots of toys

I don't know if you have sorted out the electrics but the advise given earlier to you re 20 amp portble supply with earth leakage is a geat udea if you are renting

You shoud be able to lock the roller doors from the inside just drill a hole and fit locks. You could also look at fitting an alarm if the budget allows. I also have a very noisy dog. Touch wood have lost nothing yet.

Enjoy your new found shed. FYI I really enjoy your posts terrific

    Cheers sam

Nice shed more like a factory im reallly envious. Do the doors roll up via chains if so Could drill some holes and put some good heavy duty padlocks through the chain and onto something strong say the rails in which the doors slide. Nothing deters like a monitored alarm I say or a Rotty roaming the shed

Lou congrats on the new "workshop"... dont call it the shed SWMBO will think its only for storage of her stuff!
Oh and get that car outer there!
Plenty spots to stash your stockpiles of wood, now you'll need to build some wood racks and heaps of benches and tool storage.
