getting cement off timber
I got some timber from a mini-skip for a project and it has dried cement on sections. I was going to try and scrap off most of it with a metal scraper - any other tips or suggestions are appreciated. The finish doesn't have to be perfect but I would like to be able to estapol the wood.

Scrape off bulk of it. Usually it doesnt stick terribly well to timber. Then maybe belt sand off the rest to clean up the surface?
How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?

I also recommend a wash, even if it is just with a hose and a stiff brush. Cement is quite alkaline and just getting the physical dust and grit off can still leave a layer of invisible dried Ca salts on/in the wood. Pressure washing should get it off/out. The alkai also can gut/bleache the wood surface and the affected surface should be sanded or planed off.

The best way to make sure you've gotten rid of all residual conrete is to skim an 1/8" off all sides with a cheap blade in the tablesaw. Concrete can soak into the minute cracks and such so cleaning the surface doesn't always get rid of it.
