Watto, I wouldn't believe too much you read on this forum. It's well know that a lot of the people posting take the pi$$ outta high school students who ask for help with their assignments. How do you know if even what I'm saying is right?

RIGHTIO!! Lets work through this eh?
Statement of Intent: To design and create a dunny roll holder by Wylde Watto
statement: I Wylde Watto bein totally up for the task at hand AM going to first design using my stunningly brilliant mind which by the way you as my teacher helped form into its present brilliance a dunny roll holder, then I with my own hands am going to create said dunny roll holder with my bare hands plus a few tools and some wood of course which you as my teacher being the wonderful person you are are going to provide because you desire to see me succeed at this as I myself am
motivation: The dunny needs a new dunny roll holder and I believe that if I make this one I am desiging it will prove to be so totally wonderous the entire educational system and its beauracracy will ask me to make 100s of them for every school in the state which will then lead to every education department in Australian determining that the dunny roll holder created by myself Wylde Watto is brilliant and they will then contact and contract my ownself to make 1000s more for use in every school in the land all financial rewards going as you would be aware sir to my future college university funds
limititations: I will only have a short window of time for design through to actual creation due to your time constraints which I believe are unfair but am willing and up for the challenge these limitations place upon myself
possiblities: Possiblilies are quite astounding in that not only would the state education system want my dunny roll holder but also those in every state in the land which in turn will lead to all beauracies in the country requiring the same (uniformity of such things being the norm as you are aware sir) this then would cause a trickle down effect (pardon the pun) to the wider community in general the possibilities extend to international sales of microsoft proportions thus the possibilites for future financial independance for myself would be quite clearly obvious
Research:
Materials: I will use timber glue and possibly but as yet undetermined veneers along with varnish or 2 pack polymer stuff as a finish
Style: Old time pre 1940s
Jointing Methods: dovetails and glue
I need free hand sketches 4; likes, dislikes, meets limitation set... You can do this mate
Would anyonje be able to help me out on this like give me advice what finishes to use... varnish or 2 pack poly as above... joints to use... dovetails as above... tools to use... saws (Japanese and dovetail saws) planes (jointing and block) spokeshave and mucho sandpaper... I also would like to know if theres a free tech drawing program to do sketches on the computer... see post above re sketchup... as it's very hard freehand thanks everyone hope you can help me out
Man I cant believe yous mob sometimes... now how easy was that? 5 minutes and its done easy as and helped a youngun along the way doesnt get much better And I havent done it for him he still has to design AND make the friggin thing all ive done is given him some ideas... a bit of suckin up to the teach here and there doesnt go astray when your after marks you know
Okay I cant continue this facade of being grouchy just doesnt suit my temperament so Im changin the sigBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

Makes me wonder how I ever did high school woodwork without this fandangled internet thingy.
We would have to go to the library & fight over the 2 books of plans..... and put 10c into the photocopier for each page we wanted.
It sure shows how today's teachers have to be on the ball & make sure the kids are actually researching & doing these tasks themselves.
I have a great respect for high school teachers. Dealing with 20-30+ students, some who probably don't want to be there, ain't my idea of a happy workplace.

Dingo, mate, that was brilliant! Unfortunately, the work was due last Friday and you posted after the deadline. So now poor Watto is for it.
I'm sure he'll come back and ask for help with the second part, as soon as pigs take wing.
And now you have a wombat fixation as well. I propose a tablet and a small lie down.Cheers,
Bob

oooh see someone else saw that!!! Remember the old dunny down the back paddock? you know you go out the back door across the verandah past the laundry "room" with the old boiler and wringer wash machine and down the steps along the path past the old grape vine around the corner and past the chook coop and there was the glorious wooden thunderbox in all its wonderous glory?... remember that?... sigh... and the dunny itself... a long drop with an open ended drum on top a board over that a hole cut out and if your lucky some enterprising old coot would have knocked up a wooden "seat" and tossed it in there... the dunny roll stickin out 90* on said spike from one of the wall studs.. aahhh those were the days eh?
Remember when we got flash as all hell mod cons everywhere?... the dunny got an upgrade to a cement bowl over the septic tank a new fangled plastic seat with a cover and best of all the chain!! Gawd that chain was sure an amazement... three pulls on the chain and its all gone... 4 pulls and its full... 5 pulls and flood time!! the newspaper gave way to the new fangled soft dunny paper which by todays standards is relative to 80 grit sandpaper
aaahh yes those where indeed the days
Oh so I was late gettin in here? buggar eh! no worries we helped him Im sure an certain we did... of course I will leave my post there and to hell with royalties!!... a freebie for the teachers and students everywhere... no no dont thank me its okay seriously... ooooh go on with you then give me some sugar
Okay thats enoughBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

And boy were they a let down for a young Dutch immigrant who was used to inside plumbing on both floors of our house.
When we first came here we rented half a house in Box Hill from an Italian couple and the toilet was in the unlined outhouse built into an old horse shed at the back of the property still backing onto the old nightsoil man lane.
On the way to the dunny was the owners pride and joy being a large onion patch, obviously at night the onion patch was the first point of call for us.
The old guy could never work out why he had the largest and tastiest onions in his life and he couldn't understand either that we didn't like his onions.
Yes I still remember those days.
Peter.
