how to hide an ugly pond liner
Hi all
I am wracking my brain to figure out a way to hide that gawd-awful black pond liner in a formal, above-ground pond about 2.5m square made from 200x350x500 recon. limestone blocks.
Looks nice at the moment - a bit dry but.
It isn't hiding the capping stone part but the inside face of it that you can see that is the problem. Ideally I'll have the liner 100mm lower than the top edge of the wall to show the natural wall and cat proof it a bit.
I was going to concrete and fibreglass the lot it but that will be well over a grand in material alone! Yikes!
My best idea (I thought) was to put in a 150mm stainless steel (copper/aluminium) trim to hide the liner - wife hates the idea. Oh well...
How about tile, methinks... - but what the heck can I tile on that will be immersed in water permanently? (I know water will get behind anything I put there) Won't Hardiplank or the like deteriorate if constantly immersed?
A lovely, varnished wood trim, perhaps. Permanently submerged like that - I'll have to re-varnish it every year but it may look nice.
Any ideas
Hardiebacker 1/4" and tile?
About 150 - 200mm trim around a pond totaling about 10 meters
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated
Scott

Thanks, Chris
I'm looking into Bondall silasec render.
Apparently it can be used as a cement admixture and if the walls move and make cracks it is easy to repair, unlike flexible pond paint where you have to strip the whole pond and start again.
The best part is that as a render it can be limestone colour.
Anyone use silasec before?
