Hi,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been doing woodwork (not up to the skill level of a lot of you), for about 13 yrs now.
We are currently owner-building our second home, in amongst rearing our 5 kids, and my husband working full-time. It is log-frame, with double limestone walls. I'll be happily doing all the cabinetry later on, too.
I'll try to attach a pic of one of the cupboards I built.
Cheers,
JillLast edited by Jill; 7th June 2005 at 11:21 AM. Reason: attaching photo

Thanks Majorpanic, for the welcome! I'm looking forward to all of that!!! How to have a balanced life - work on building your home & homeschooling your children, etc. most of the day, lay awake at night with adrenalin surfing through your veins while designing the cabinetry for the house, and then for some e-R & R - come on here and talk yet MORE wood!
You should see the activities lists for our kids - even our 9 yr. old has designed a bedside table for her room-to-be. I'm going to help them build the furniture for their rooms - that will be theirs to keep when they leave home (long way off, yet) - then I can build some more to fill the space!! Our son is only 4 yet, so I built his wardrobe without his help (see attached pic), but he says he is going to help me to build his bed!
Cheers,
Jill

Im also building a house with my wife and kids (only two yet...) Scandinavian full-scribe, about 5 mile of hand milled logs. We are still preparing the foundations though. Using quartz/granite and dressing with natural slate and toodjay.
Best of luck with your house. And welcome aboard to WWF.J!
My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and its price is competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

Hi & Welcome, Jill!
Lovely to see you on the forum. Beautiful work both the display cabinet and wardrobe. Can't wait to see more of your work. Must be great to have the kids take such an interest too. I'm looking forward to hearing about your fun designing and building the cabinets for your current home.
Cheers

Hi Jill and welcome. If you have lots of tools, a table saw, band saw, router, thicnkesser and jointer , will you marry me ?? ( send pics of tools first)
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

That's a seriously nice wardrobe. How did you do the picture on the front?
As another newcomer to this forum, I can say the the people here have been very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
In the words of Hatori Hanzo: "Welcome, welcome!"Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Whew - how many coming out of the woodwork, here?
Hi all,
Farout - thank you so much - I took so long writing my reply to Majorpanic that two more of you had posted in the meantime!! Took a while to figure out the attachment thing - our photo files were too big.
Thanks for the compliments on my work...the first cupboard was built from native Australian hardwood - only Tung oiled - can't remember the name of the timber - milled on a brother's property with a mobile mill (in Qld.).
For the picture on the wardrobe - I painted it with artists oil paints thinned with some orange turps & a little oil to create a paint/stain for most of it - so that you can still see the timber grain through it.
Sorry Gumby - if that's your photo, I'm running!!!
Woodlice - do you have photos on here of your house in progress? I would love to see it! My fav. style of home! Lots of work - I take my hat off to you!
Alex - spare time - no got! No, actually the kids all help and are great - otherwise I wouldn't be on here!
Wendy - so nice to meet another woman to talk shop with, too! I'll have to explore this site and check out everyone else's work.
I'll attach another pic, part of our partly built home.
Cheers,
