Oh Dear! Been there too, Christopha - settle in for a long ride old fella - in my case it was close to 10 years before I had a decent shed again. But I managed to get some quality shed-time by closing in part of the back veranda into a mini-shed, put the lathe in a lean-to out the back, stacked some timber under the house, yep occasionally had 'installations' in the living areas.... The only place I could asemble anything bigger than a jewelry box was in the 'lounge'.

Look on the bright side, you haven't got anyone telling you that you can't do that, or fussing about the sawdust.....!

    Cheers,
    IW

I'm of the opinion that there is a best way to do anything, and it can't hurt to ask, at worst you'll get a good starting point rather than floundering around for ages trying to figure where to start.

Being a cynic I take everything with a grain of salt, it is always someones interpretation of the truth as they see it for their circumstances.

I agree whole heartedly...I have selected the table saw I'm going to buy, based on comments read in this forum. Have purchased a biscuit joiner and some router bits, have designed the coffee tables (yep that's two of them by christmas) and as soon as I finish the current project will commence...can't wait....but also can't find the time to finish what I've already started.

I agree with the comments made about the master pieces being produced with little more than a chisel....but must add, they have the time....they don't watch tv, go shopping for that "have to have" item, drive two hours for the family get together or whatever, spend 10 hours per week travelling to and from work.

The list of things for me to do just keeps getting bigger and the time to do them in keeps getting less.
So reading the "wisdom" gained from someone here making the mistake first, or finding that better way of doing something, certainly helps.

My heartfelt thanks to all who have posted here. It has been very soothing for my scarred soul to see this pacate, balanced discussion.

Could we all circulate a petition that Bitingmidge's post is locked in at the top of each forum and anybody who starts again the tool brand wars is immediately banned?

    Keep up the good work.

A horrible thought just struck me: unless this thread is closed immediately, what is the chance of it continuing at this level without some d******d spoiling it?

    Aaaaaargh! Quick, nurse, the sedative!
