Default How to do this? (see picture)

    Hi everyone.

I'd like to know how the circular indent where the girl has her head has been made.

Would a coarse sanding disc do the job?

    Thanks!!!

I'd be routing it out in sections then flat chisel to knock out what was missed routing, then orbital sanding. But I think you are in the wrong section of the woodwork forum.

Isn't it a big hole with another layer of wood glued under the hole?
    It is the wrong section.

Looks like it slopes down toward the hole at the top of the table. Maybe a router on a trammel(?) arm, coming off a sloping ramp which starts at the diameter and slopes up at the same angle up under where her shoulders are. Easier to picture than describe.

It looks like one piece of board that has been laminated together and then the circular indent has been cut away as the grain seems to follow all the way through the indent right to the outer edges of each laminated piece.
