Phosphoric Acid on Cast Iron
It is quite often said that solution to problems are very often right before your eyes.
For many, many years I have used Phosphoric Acid to prevent rust on all manners of things, tools, ars, wrought iron etc and it works like a dream. Apparently it converts Iron Oxide [Rust] into Iron Phosphate [I think] which does not rust.
Now for some reason or other on all my workshop tools I've used all manners of thing to prevent rust appearing on cast iron tops - don't ask me why - to date I have never used Phosphoric Acid on any of these cast iron tops.
I cannot think if there would be any side effects from using Phosphoric Acid on cast iron in relation to it affecting any timber that may pass over it in the future.
If none of you highly esteemed, noteworthy and knowlegable folk can't come up with a downside, I'll give it a go on my router table and provide some feedback
