Default what resin for imbeding objects in wood ?

    Hi,

remember reading a good answer to this before but have forgotton.

I want a good clear setting resin. Uno, so you can set something inside the resin and see it clearly through the resin. Not cloudy. All the rage I've noticed in cutting boards and stuff like that.

    thanks
    Jake

    G'day apricotripper!
You will need a casting resin which is readily available. You could try Barnes on http://www.barnes.com.au or Solid Solutions who have a range of epoxy resins suitable for woodworking http://solidsolutions.com.au

    Solid Solutions Doming Epoxy

Just don't mix it too vigorously or you'll get bubbles

thanks.....so these resins...I'm assuming their the pouring type? . Cause I'm guessing, if they are the pasty type I'm not going to get it into the moulds nicely.

Casting resins are pouring consistency. A tip for avoiding bubbles is to hit it with a hot air gun - brings them to the surface quickly. One bloke I know uses a blow torch, but haven't tried that!
