Setting up air lines in your shed.
Greetings,
I'm setting up a permanent air supply line in my shed ( 18m x 7.5m ) and I'm tossing up between using PVC or rubber hose's. I intend to fix it to the top of my shed's walls going around roughly half my shed. I have heard that the PVC when exposed to sunlight can become brittle and if under pressure can litterally explode after too much exposure.
The upside of PVC is I think it would look heaps better and the fittings would be cheaper.
The rubber hose option is OK but I have a preference to the PVC just not sure if it's suitable.
I have a 15cfm good quality compressor and was thinking about using 20mm or less PVC, and dropping it down to about 6 supply points plus 1 feed point from the compressor.
What do you all think?
Sorry if I've posted in the wrong spot but didn't find what I thought to be a suitable location

I would not use pvc unless it is the blue pvc designed specifically for high pressure air lines.Alternately use a high pressure poly water pipe and fittings I think it is class 6 or class 12.Robert

One of my mates has a air distribution system done using recycled copper pipe. Now that looks shmick! - of course he only did it because he picked up half a skips worth of old pipe from a demolition site.

I wouldn't use pvc or hose
Id use 1/2" (15mm) gal pipe. That's what we used in workshops I've worked in .

I have a retractable hose reel attached to the roof of my shed and one other quick connection for another hose if I need it. Both are connected via hose running along the purlins to the compressor (that generally lives under one of my benches) with condensation traps. All connections are simple click-ons so I can disconnect at any time.

I used the normal air compressor hose to run lines in my workshop to various points. See here for details.
This hose has been in use for about 8 years now and was the simplest and cheapest option. I had a close look at it the other day and it shows no signs of deterioration at all.

Thanks guy's.
I've heard stories of the PVC explosion. I'm going to look out for some of the blue pipe as suggested in the replies.

At the end of the day your shed is smallish (18m x 7.5m) 15mm gal would be ideal... but the blue hose from bunnies or super cheap will last you for "years"
Blue hose rocks, and is cheap. Its all over my little shed
