    Default Silicone removal

G'day all - Mods, if I'm in the wrong place please relocate.

I have some "Traveller " T-Track from a yacht which is similar to an "I" bean with the bottom horizontal removed. I have 2 track which are each 1200mm long. As the bottom of the "T" is an exact fit for the mitre tracks on my table saw I see these as a ready source for jigs.

The problem - as these tracks are used where they have been screwed to the deck there is a "glob" of silicone - every 100mm. I need to remove this before I can use it properly in the tracks - there is also a contamination aspect which I may or may not need to take into account - the silicone would have to be 20 years old.

How to remove - I have tried [with little or no success} so far, metho, turps, kero, thinners, shellite, hot air gun, acetone, scrubbing with a scouring pad......

How do you remove this stuff?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Bob

    I have used this:

It is pricey, but it works . . .

Had a look at the MSDS for the silicone remover and it looks like it is fairly "heavy" stuff.

I was hoping someone may have had another way which had worked for them.
