    Default silver steel and oak

My gateleg outdoor table has reached the swing leg stage, and I ask if members think it would be acceptable to use silver steel with oak (in the pivot mechanism ) and not get corrosion problems?

Its harder than mild steel, also it does not rust as easily as the former, but silver steel is very hard to cut. But since my posting I have found some brass rod (10mm) and a small piece of brass plate, which I have drilled to create a bearing, so most probably wont use steel in the end.

Never use steel "in the end". It's very uncomfortable!

My hands are like steel, every time it rains, they rust.

Doesnt steel react with Oak and cause it to stain? (I may be thinking of an old staining process involving steel wool dissolved in vinegar to ebonize it.)

I imagine brass would probably be best for outside
